I washed black with white?

I washed my black and whites together, now the whites look dirty from the dark fabric on them and the blacks are faded looking from the white fibers. If I wash the black and white SEPARATELY again, will they regain their color? It just seems like it's the lint that comes off each that is making them dull looking.
