Will a short block for a tbi 350 work with top end vortec parts?

I spun a rod bearing in my 98 k2500 5.7 350, so i pulled the motor and i found a short block for it, but its out of a TBI 350, comes with cam and crank and pistons and harmonic balancer, etc. I was going to use my heads and lifters and intake manifold, but i called a friend before i bought it and he said that the tbi's have a different style cam, and it won't work? any suggestions, or solutions? Thanks.
