What Utensils Should i Buy? (Artwork)?

For the lack of better words i'm an 'inspiring wanna-be design-artist' even though i rarely draw stuff i really like. I have a lot of marvel/dc comics and. i want to capture the shading and coloring like in graphic novels but rose-art and school pens aren't getting me there. I need to know what kind of pens, coloring pencils and accessories i should by to capture the dark shading look and color in general.
