Why is "Bailey" such a common dog name?

you can always change your dogs name. i rescued my dog from the pound and he clearly had a different name before i got him. and my boyfriend just got a puppy and we called her lady for a month before we changed her name to mika because it sounded too much like teddy and my dog thought he was being yelled at when lady was being yelled at. so changing a name is not hard. just start always calling your dog by the new name. and i have no idea why bailey is a popular name, as with people popular names go in spurts.
