Can I use asphalt shingles in place of floor leveling compound to correct minor (1/16") differences in subfloor? I'm talking mostly about the joints between 2 pieces of plywood. Some of them are slightly higher than the pieces they abut. But this height difference corrects over the space of about 10"-12". I would prefer not to sand them down since this will make the joints themselves level but will mean that the rest of the board will have a slight dip (or bow) to it.
