Has anyone had luck getting pregnant with Metformin? Its side effects are bad and I am wondering if it works.?

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant since our miscarriage last April. I have PCOS which I have known about for awhile now. PCOS plus my underactive Thyroid are causing me not to ovulate. We thought that the fact that I got pregnant before shows that I am able but my doctor told me my thyroid was probably the reason of the miscarriage and there is a high risk with me going through another miscarriage if I get pregnant prior to my thyroid levels being to normal. My doctor put me on synthroid and Metformin 1000 mgs. I couldnt handle the 1000 mgs because I couldnt even function because of how sick I was. I am now on 500 mgs and have to increase to 1000 as soon as I can handle it. I get so sick that I almost p. Per my doctor this is the best medicine to take to help me get pregnant. Has anyone had luck with Metformin and getting pregnant? How long did it take?I am sure you understand that when you are ready for a baby you will try anything. Thanks in advance for advice.
