Is there a way to turn off auto switch when you run out of ammo on COD Black Ops?

Say you're using the ballistic knife and you run out of knives it automatically switches to your other weapon, can you turn this of as its a load of **** because by time you've swapped weapons you're dead, wereas if you kept it out you could use the knife. Anyone know how to turn this off?
